About the Israel Stage Orchestra

On the 15th of November 1992, an orchestra was founded by Mike Levine and Roni Porat. It became an integral part of the Yad Harif      Regional Centre for the Arts, established on Kibbutz Tzora in memory of Mussa Moria and Hagai Harif.

At the outset the orchestra set itself a number of aims:

* to explore new avenues of artistic expression by collaborating with other art forms.

* to bring the joy of music to children from economically challenged backgrounds.

* to encourage young Israeli artists and afford them an opportunity to perform.

The orchestra's strength lies in it's unique approach to music education and its ability to communicate, especially with young audiences.

Concert series for young and adult audiences are premiered at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art before touring other venues throughout the country.

In April 2009 the orchestra paid tribute to Maestro Mendi Rodan; celebrating his 80th birthday.  An international conducting master class organized by the orchestra has been a highlight of the 2010 season. It was, directed by Maestro Yoel Levi in Mendi Rodan's name. Plans for 2011 are already underway in order to ensure that this becomes an annual event. The orchestra appears regularly at the Abu Gosh music festival and has created original concert / theatre works, commissioned by the Israel Festival.
